API not working

There is a webserver problem with our data in cloud hosting provider.  They shut down all of the instances and they are not coming back up correctly.  We have all hands on deck and are working through the problems as quickly as possible.  Please bear with us as we work to fix this.

Thanks for the info. Being still rather new at this I thought I broke something in my beta program. I happen to be working on it when it went dead.

I figured. Something related to Amazon EC2 Instance Reboot Maintenance?
My servers were down because of that.
Hope everything works out for you soon.
Thanks for all the works. Cheers :)

Has this problem been resolved?  I seem to be making calls, and it seems to be about 50% of the time I am getting bad data back.  Like 0 for the tempF and -9.99 for humidity.

Things are mostly fixed now.  We were able to restore HTTP access last night, and have been working on reconnecting things behind the scenes for the data to be processed and put into the right places.  That is why some values themselves might still have an issue.  We are continuing to https://www.cnbc.com/2018/01/03/microsoft-google-respond-to-intel-chip-vulnerability.html

Still getting timeouts with UnderTheWX.app on macOS. Data seems to get through about once every 10 minutes. Good enough to prevent Wunderground from sending automatic, "Is your PWS down?" emails.

24 hours now, and its hit or miss, mostly miss when it comes to API, its not likely they know how to fix it yet.

We are still working on the problem.  Bringing everything back online created a network switch problem.  IT continues to address the issue.

Does this mean you're also fixing all of the other website issues, like "favorites" and page preferences not being saved and all the radar page problems?  Those have been going on for months.

Not all that "up and stable." my station (KALMADIS73) reports, "This PWS is not reporting; Last updated: 1/5/2018, 2:06:59 PM, 3 minutes ago"

Not reporting? After only 3 minutes? UnderTheWX is having trouble posting data but occasionally getting through.

Some of the interfaces (such as WxDisplayHistory.asp) are returning incorrect local time for the data. Appears default timezone is est, and something on the wu side must be timing out retrieving info on stn timezone. That MALF appears to ripple out, causing some data to not be fetched (such as for a day summary).
Issue is intermittent (the kind all software engineers and IT folken love (?) the most).
Having battled (... errr worked with) computers for nearly 50 years, it appears to me that not enough thought went into what might go wrong in the 'cloud'.

Sometimes local times and gmt both seem to be correct, but day data returned begins at 00:00:00 gmt, instead of local time.

My cams have not been working for some time.  They're the URL type.

They show up on the list, but when I try to associate a webcam to a station and press "save", nothing happens (I'm using the station edit screen).  See station KNEROUND3 as an example.

Thanks for all the work you guys doing getting things back up!  I know it's a rough ride.

Thank You WU for updates. I offer the following info if it helps.... as reported above, status message for KMTPLAIN4 does not update, from station page or account page. Station counter reverted to 1, stuck at that value. Weather Cam is now testing with success, but not active or displaying. Some cams are coming back here in western Montana, very few of the long-time cams, but some new ones are showing up ! This info is current as of 14:30 Friday, 1-5-18. All of this is much better than status of system on Wednesday morning. Keep up the good work. Montanaphil.

Yep, Cameras died again. I am using FTP from three camsaround the country. Last post from the cameras was 8:15 pm.  WU site is running very slow also.  Counter for site visits stuck at 1.  Unable to update STATUS section.  Will not save changes.  Oh, forgot to mention the weather graphs and table not working.

Keep at it!

Thank you!

Status Update Saturday Morning 1-6-18...many more cams back online overnight in the Northwest, including my own CAM4 associated with my PWS KMTPLAIN4. Updating less frequently, but active and visible. Visit counter still stuck on 1, Status message updates won't save, I will continue to monitor and report changes here. Montanaphil
Edit at 0845: many cams (including mine) down again, but does report active and tests successfully.

Most stations have vanished from nearby PWS lists.
For example, in Russia/Saint-Petersburg there used to be around 30 stations reported.
Now just 1 station.

WxDisplayHistory.asp data fetch still often incomplete (sometimes only header displays, no data).  Retry(s) eventually succeed.

Looking like wu may only be pulling data from pws, and push attempts (such as via RapidFire) are timing out. Happening with a variety of software, on various kinds of pws.
Verified via WxDisplayHistory.asp .

Intermittent upload success suggests wu is not consistently retrieving stn info. For example, wu appears to default to EST timezone. If script(s) retrieving stn info are timing out, that may leaving wu thinking all stns outside that timezone have incorrect timestamps on their data... at least when some stn info service times out (?).

Just catching up on all this after a holiday vacation.  My animated radar gifs are not pulling correctly from the API, but as this is a known issue I'll wait for further updates.  If I am incorrect in my interpretation of the current status of the API please let me know so I can take further steps to correct my api calls.
Thanks!

URL for the radar?

http://churchofthegeek.com/weatherradar/  is the page itself.
http://churchofthegeek.com/weatherradar/weatherbig.gif is one of the two gifs on that page, the other one is http://churchofthegeek.com/weatherradar/weather.gif
Looks like one of the two images on that page is working as of right now, but it refreshes every 5 minutes so it will probably be on-again-off-again.
Thanks Brendan!

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding.  The two urls I'm calling are below.

('http://api.wunderground.com/api/' + apiKey + '/animatedradar/q/MI/Lansing.gif?newmaps=1&num=12&delay=50&interval=30&width=800&height=600&timelabel=1&timelabel.x=10&timelabel.y=20&rainsnow=1')

('http://api.wunderground.com/api/' + apiKey + '/animatedradar/q/MI/Lansing.gif?newmaps=1&num=12&delay=50&interval=30&width=800&height=600&timelabel=1&timelabel.x=10&timelabel.y=20&radius=300&rainsnow=1')

Monday morning, and progress is going backwards. PWS reporting is getting worse and worse, I would estimate 40% of the data is missing. On the bright side, the CAMS are updating every hour or so...

Good morning, so when do you think things will be fixed?  Everything (Web Cams, status etc) was coming back to life and now its dying again.  I know you folks have been working on it but it seems as if things are going backwards.  Is it time to scrub those servers and start over?  Included are some screen shots from this morning.
