Dear all,

My weather station sends its data every 48 seconds to wunderground using the RapidFire protocol (only). Most of the time this can be followed in real time on the relevant web site . In actual fact, upon opening the web site or renewing it, one first sees a map with or without the weather station icon and to the right of it a message that the last update was of the order of 10ths of minutes ago. It is subsequently refreshed with a map with the icon on and the actual update time of the order of 10ths of seconds. Sometimes, the second update does not come for something like an hour which gives the impression something is wrong. It will sometimes even tell us that it is not updating!
It is certainly not the weather station not updating as is clear from the history graph below the map that continues to show the data without any interruption.
My guess is that this is due to server(s) overload on your side. Or could it be a bug in your software?

This is due to changes we are making with how we cache the data we serve.  It is too bandwidth heavy to show the updated data at the same frequency it is being uploaded in all instances.  So in come places we cache the data and that saves on bandwidth overhead.  We are fine tuning the cache and don't want data an hour old, but having data 5 -15 minutes behind can happen with the cache now.

Thanks Brendan

No problems from my side, you are a great service!

Last time I asked about this (by email) the reply was that my data would be faulty. That answer was clearly inconsistent with the fact that the history graph still showed all data that was sent. I left it at that at the time, but since this forum provides more reliable answers I repeated the question here.
