Discrepancy between API BestForecast and National Weather Service Forecast

May 2, 2012: Discrepancy between BestForecast and NWS NDFD, particularly winds. This is for the 76063 ZIP code:

NWS: "Partly sunny in the morning then becoming mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 80s. South winds 15 to 20 mph."

BestForecast: "Mostly cloudy in the morning, then partly cloudy. High of 90F. Breezy. Winds from the East at 15 to 20 mph."

Is there a way to get the NWS NDFD data from the API instead of the BestForecast? The NWS forecasts are much more reliable.

The BestForecast data does not appear to be accurate. This has happened before with winds, temperatures, and rain.

Thank you.

The BestForecast includes data from NWS NDFD as part of its models, but is not solely dependent on NWS NDFD. Use the NWS feeds from them if you want their weather data specifically. We stand by our BestForecast models and technology and are constantly working on improving the output.

Brendan,

Thank you for the explanation on data source for the API text forecasts. I do like Wunderground's text forecast format. It fits well with my app.

I will continue to use the BestForecast data in development of my app. If I encounter any major discrepancies, I will report them to the Community at that time.

Thanks again for your response.
