How do you make the initial call for data? I am an old programmer but, due to illness, was away from programming for several years. Now I am trying to put a few things together for myself and am having issues with finding information on how to use these new "languages" that seem to be the norm now and the old stuff only throws errors or just plain blows up.

Weather Underground API simply offers a structured weather data you can query via URL.
Depending the language/platform you're going to use, you will basically interact with WUAPI by fetching a remote file data via an HTTP request. So, if you're confident with any web data retrieval, after caching the data response, you should able to parse it too.

Some basic steps are published at http://www.wunderground.com/weather/a... with an example of URLs you're wanting to call (you can test directly using your internet browser!) from your software logic.

We will be working on docs that are better suited for people who don't know anything about programming a web page, but for now you'll have better luck googling around to find some tutorials on using an API and then come back to us. Try http://www.codecademy.com/
