Is there any plans to provide high resolution animated icons?
The current icon sets has very low resolution max 50x50px, none of them are animated and have outdated styles.
It would be nice if there was some trendy, animated icons available at least with 128px resolution.

Can't argue with you there! Our icon sets aren't the best. But, the reason we include the icon name is so you can download your own set of icons. Grab a set you like on the internet, rename them to match our names (like partlycloudy) and then use your own set.

Hello there, I am trying to use my own set of icons as well but for some reason its really confusing for me on how to do this. How can I link my icons to the conditions that I parse through from your api data? Adding my own icons is the final piece in a project that I am working on! :)

Thanks

When you host your own icons, name them the same as ours. Then call your file name as (if its a web page)
http://www.youricons.com/[icon].png
They can be jpg or png or whatever you want.

Hi this is good to see that you allow any to download sets of icons from the internet and use them with your Api, in my case I think I'll make my own. Thank you!

Quick question regarding this. The icon name you return as part of the JSON response does not always match the actual. This is one part of my hourly response JSON:
"icon":"partlycloudy","icon_url":"http://icons-ak.wxug.com/i/c/k/nt_par..."

So if I just use the partlycloudy icon that is returned in order to specify which one of my icons to use, then i cannot specify that it is for night time instead of day time. Result is a sun icon during the night.. :-(
Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

Could you provide a more specific example of this happening, with the complete example?

Thanks!

I found these: http://fav.me/d5ha9yv
The artist made an effort to stick to Weather Underground naming conventions, so it's fairly simple to adjust from API generated icon to this higher resolution icon set. IF you need any help with the switch over, you can email me Avi@andrewtapp.com :)
