Inconsistent units of measurement

I have used my API key to automate data retrieval for six European weather stations for 6+ months now without a problem.

However since mid February 2018 the key now returns either SI or imperial units depending on the particular day.

E.g history_20180227 for EDDK returns SI units, degrees C, km/hr, hPa etc which is what I need.
E.g history_20180307 for EDDK returns imperial units, degrees F, inches(presumably H20), mph.

I should add that I used to retrieve data using .csv format for several years before the API keys were introduced and understand the typical format should now be JSON or XML.

However I found that csv. still works using the following URL construction which saved me having to redevelop my data handling routines, the /q/CA never changes which is odd given CA probably stands for California.... :

I see that XML and JSON formats have both imperial and metric units included and explicitly labelled when these are selected as output format.  Seems like I will have to embrace the revolution from flat files to structured data and redevelop my data handling code...
