Clarifying point: I want to have rain fall for 01/01/2013 in Minot, ND. Then I want average temp. Then min temp. Etc.
I can pull the whole URL into excel but it gives me a long bit of information.

Has this issue been resolved? I am interested in the same functionality.

Hi All,

This is not functionality that will be implemented in the API.  The API endpoints we provide are meant to be highly cacheable to improve delivery performance to the user.  Selecting arbitrary keys would harm that cache performance and result in degraded delivery times.

If this is functionality is required, I would recommend creating a translation layer for the API.  Pulling the full dataset then paring it down then pushing it into excel.
