please ask them to change this - now this API is effectively unusable for me. I rely on my pws data via API for adjustments to astronomic equipment, which are sensitive to fractions of a degree C. if it's just degrees, it's no longer helpful
I would also like to back this. The "Deal" is that we get access to the reported data from our PWS ... we report a detailed "current" value with decimals (and your website is also showing them with decimals) ... so we should get those back also with decimals.
And same for wind speed and all the other values that are reported by te PWS with decimals
My station reports data as a PWS but also to my weather station manufacture's API. So I was able to pull current conditions from there. I still rely on this API for everything else. I mention this because when I first got my station the ability to report anywhere other than WU wasn't there. I only discovered it recently and it required a firmware update to the weather station.
Hello @Victoria, did you find out about a change from integers to decimals.
The change to decimal is a pretty surprising move, given the fact, that all PWS are reporting in decimals - why is this data not carried further?
The result of this decision is much poorer data and a loss of possible applications of your data. an illustration of this effect in this snapshot of the API data: old Wunderground API (left) and the integer data from Weather Company API (with 0.5C increment).
Yes, plans have begun to add a precision variable in the call which will allow for decimal temperature use. The developer expects it to be ready by the end of April. I'm sure it will be announced on the Forum when it's ready.
That is indeed good news. Any news on our requests to restore a condition iconCode when requesting Observations? I've noticed it is even mentioned on the icon definition page, though not part of the responses. E.g. on page https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dNCf6nF6cjm4oOxQxjtqNuAvG_iEe5f9MQH1xlCeV4s/edit in the "Icon used in" column "Observations" is frequently mentioned along with Forecast.
