I'm getting the following invalid certificate error when querying the API:

The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “api.wunderground.com” which could put your confidential information at risk.

It seems this is due to a sort of underlying akamai integration in progress, so their servers are replying instead of api.wunderground.com
Looking forward for a reply from WU rep. about this and the way to solution.

We did put our traffic through Akami to improve response time and performance but it does not support SSL. If you require SSL get in touch with us through Support and we can give you the URL. SSL will not have the benefit of the Akami caching layer.

We use SSL to hide our API key from prying eyes. The Akami-fied api.wunderground.com URL still seems to work with SSL if you just ignore the server trust error.

That's true. If you don't mind ignoring the trust error, go for it.

This Akami change is going to be problematic for our installed base because it will take us a while to get our app updated through the App Store. Is there a way you can fix the certificate problem on your end so things keep working the way they used to, at least for a couple of weeks?

We undid the change for SSL. Get in touch with us at help.wunderground.com so we can track you there and then make the change again in the very near future.

We released an update of our app that works around the Akamai non-SSL problem. You can go ahead and flip the switch and turn the Akamai feed back on.
