Negative value for precip_today_in when using API

Hi,

I'm using the API and precip_today_in value for KMTP (airport weather station) is returning a negative value. What does this mean?

http://api.wunderground.com/api/{key}...

If this value is negative are the other precip values likely to be incorrect too?

thanks,
Cameron

-999 is a value we use sometimes instead of NA or null. -999 and -9999 both mean we do not have valid data for that data point. In the future we're going to replace all -9999 with null

Thanks for the response.

Does this mean that other precipitation values for this site are OK as long as they aren't -999?

What about values like this?

"precipm":"T", "precipi":"T"

I'm also seeing T for those two fields as well. The request has a "T" for both of those fields: http://api.wunderground.com/api//hist...

This was answered here: http://apicommunity.wunderground.com/...

We're going to add Trace to the documentation so its not a problem for others.
