I have been experiencing a similar problem which started failing more frequently on Saturday, 7 Oct. morning, but in the ~2 weeks prior I would see failures when doing specific queries from specific devices.  On Saturday the problem became more widespread and queries which never had a problem before started failing about about 3 times out of 5.

When it fail it just refuses to give an image no other errors are passed.

When it fails it returns the following:
Bad Request
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Additionally, a 400 Bad Request
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.34 (Amazon) Server at ip-10-99-215-164.ec2.internal Port 8

How is that possible when we only have one query we use and it is hardcoded into the config file?  In the last two hours we have made 12 calls.  6 successful and 6 unsuccessful.  If we had a bad request they should all fail.

Note, It worked well most of the day yesterday - from approximately 10AM onward but started failing regularly again today at 1AM CT

Having the same issues here. 3-4 out of 5 requests fail.  No error message is received, just a blank image with an indicated length of 441 and a 0s response time.

wget results:

Glad its not just me, I thought I was going mad. 50% of my calls are failing returning a filesize of 441 as opposed to 2450. 2450 is generally the filesize when there is no rain, which there isn't at the moment. If I use a browser for the call and it fails it returns The image "http://api.wunderground.com/api/***APIKEY**/radar/image.gif?minlat=52.54&maxlat=53.38&m... cannot be displayed as it contains errors.

Its been like this for a few days now.

I am definitely seeing this issue also, with all the same symptoms folks have mentioned above.

My usage has gone up significantly (~40%) since Saturday, with a drop yesterday, increasing again today.  This is due to my users retrying.  So it looks like they are charging us for these failed attempts.

I opened a ticket.  Not sure, but I assume that is the way to catch WU's attention.

@Jay Allen - you may want to edit your post and remove your API key form you pasted call. I am sure we are all honest here but wouldn't want anyone using your key.

Yeah, thought I'd masked the user/host info pretty well but totally neglected the api key lol.  Oddly I can't find a way to edit the post.  Thankfully that key is used for a very minimal use application so I'll just regenerate it. Thanks for the heads up :)

I also experienced a lot of `imageload` errors during the last days. Something's not working correctly.

I received a reply to my email to support - asking if we were still experiencing the issue.  I confirmed that we are.  They are looking into the issue.

I emailed support again this morning, giving them my failure rates from over the weekend.  Perhaps everyone else that is experiencing issues could do the same?  Perhaps they don't realize the scope of the problem...

I just emailed them again. They didn't respond to my first email from Thursday. Currently it's wasting a lot of API calls due to this error, which is annoying.

The radar does seem intermittent.  I'm asking the backend team to look into this.

Keeping everything crossed but my system has only reported 2 missed API radar calls in the last 6 hours, so 70 out of 72 calls returned a valid image. Will keep monitoring.
