Seeking Info on Projection

Can someone give me some more info on how the radar images are projected? I'm requesting a Mercator projected map with the below URL, but trying to overlay an actual Mercator US map quickly demonstrates this is a different projection...

http://api.wunderground.com/api/9729a...

(See attached image for reference)

If you exclude the reproj.automerc=1 you get a different looking map, supposedly a "non-projected" map, which I presume means "Geographic" projection where lat and lon/lon are treated as x/y, but the resulting map looks nothing like this.

Any ideas?

The maps work for us on WunderMap, using Google Mercator. It's hard to know what's going on there.

What other map source are you using?

Hi WunderWilliam,

When I manually overlay the image from your API onto your WunderMap, you can see the same distortion exists:

So something is clearly different. I presume the radar image(s) WunderMap is using doesn't come through the external API. Would it be possible for an end user like myself to access that image?

Thanks!
Walter

Any chance of having a programmer look into this issue? Or any suggestion as to how I could get a properly projected Mercator image from the API?

Thanks!
