Solar Energy Data Collection - New Database Field

I ask that you add an additional database field of information for the personal weather station data collection effort.
The new field would be specifically, 'megajoules per square meter' OR 'watt hours per square meter' for the day.
(1 MJ = 277.77777777778 Wh) OR (1 Wh = 0.0036 MJ)
This of course would represent the total usable energy that could have been captured in one day by an appropriately equipped location.
Information of this type is quite important for agricultural needs.
It is also useful in evaluating the economics of an investment in solar energy equipment.
Today we can report the watts per square meter (an instantaneous reading only).
To translate watts per square meter to a more useful number, one would need to have continuous readings throughout the day. This can vary considerably from reading to reading, because of cloud conditions, time of day, humidity etc. The summary number I am suggesting would 
account for all the variables and represent the net result ('megajoules per square meter') for the whole day.
In most states, the information can also be obtained from the local Farm Bureau, university, or television station - and it would be quite easy to post it into the system
to make it a (central collection point) for solar data.
