widget not secure

Dear all,

I use a WU-widget in my wordpress site to refer to my weatherstation. That worked fine until my website got secured (https).
The problem now is not with the referral, because the website showing my weatherstation data is secure even if the widget refers to it in a non-secure way (http); this I could mend easily.
The problem is with the "image". It is content obtained from a non-secure site so it will not show.
I suppose this problem will get worse in the future in the sense that more sites get secured. Could something be done about this. For the moment I will try to make a workaround but this will surely not be optimal.

So far as I know, there are no Weather Underground widgets that are still being supported.  Which one are you using?

Dear Victoria

Let me first add that I am impressed by your persistence in answering the sometimes aggresively sounding posts.

To answer your question: on the PWS-website there is a tab "PWS widgets". It links to this page.

Wow, that is some seriously old code.  I thought all the widget pages were gone -- I think this one is still there because it's on someone's personal PWS page.  I turned up a few newer ones when I saw your note (via Google), and even those state they are no longer being supported by the third-party vendors that created them.

There might be some useable widgets in Wxforum.  Or since all you need is the image, could you load it into your WordPress page?  If you're rewriting the calls, then you would just be making a local call, and it wouldn't be an issue.

Thanks for the compliment.  It is easier when you think not of posts, but of a person who may be struggling or frustrated.  :-)  I even smile as I type the answers.

Hi Victoria

I solved the problem anyhow with a workaround. I'll see how long it lasts ...

Sounds like you enjoy what you are doing. Keep up the good spirit, please!
